I think I am needing to replace my electronic ignition control module.

Anybody know what brand/model would be a direct replacement?

I'm still using the original AMC from 1975.

    258 6 cyl.

    Thanks

The originals were made by Prestolite, and now it's a parts-store item. Whatever brand the store carries, that's what you'll get. I have a Napa module on my truck (also Prestolite) and it's worked reliably for the few years I've owned the truck.

I fully understand if you want to keep your 75 CJ5 original, but the Prestolite
was a troublesome ignition design. I finally gave up on mine a few years back and yanked out the factory coil, distributor and ignition module, and replaced it with a GM HEI distributor.

Since then I have had NO issues with the upgrade and it cranks so much faster with the hotter spark.

    Thanks guys....

I'll probably go with whatever the local supplier has on hand.

I'd love to do the HEI but until I can afford it......
