While cranking the engin over my voltage drops from 13 plus volts to low 10 to high 9 volts. I am thinking this may be my problem. I have a new optima battery, new cables, new painless wiring, new dui ditributor all componets tested and replaced never hurts to have spare parts, taken extra care to make sure everything on the jeep is well grounded and have even tried wireing the distributor directly to the battery. Im not sure what my problem is maybe the voltage draw from the starter. Need some sugestions Im sure Im missing something simple.

The starter shouldn't have anything to do with the spark at the disributor.

Turn the Key on and check to see if you have 12 volts at the distributor. If so. Then pull one of the plug and see if you have spark there. Be sure to ground skark plug on the block before you crank it. If one spark plug wire isn't grounded while the motor is cranking, you could burn out the distributor.

I have over 13 volts at the distributor but drops to low 10 to high 9 volts while cranking the engine. No spark coming from distributor or at spark plugs. All parts of the distributor are new and have been replaced with new parts. I'm thinking that the voltage drop to the distributor is not allowing the distributor to create a spark.

How many pins on the module ? What is the application for the HEI ? ( Is it for a vehicle that had a computer ? ) I mentioned in an earlier post that I had the same problem with the HEI for the 4.3 Problem turned out to be a module with an extra pin that needed a signal from the computer. Changed modules and it lit right up.
