I found an 4 cyclinder engine that is from the miltiary vehicle, but I am not sure what. It has waterproof ignition, 24volt alt mated to a tranny/transfercase. The starter mountes on top of the bellhousing. On the tranny, there doesn't seem to be a seperate transfercase and transmission, it is one piece with an output shaft in the front and back but I didn't see a 2wd/4wd selector. Just 1 stick coming out. The exhast and intake are both on the drivers side. The carb is mounted on the side of the intake manifold instead of being ontop of it. The distributer is on the passenger side.

What I am thinking about doing is putting the engine into my stock 58 CJ6 that has the F134 engine in it. I am trying to find out if it will bolt up to my bellhousing, I am assuming it is a jeep engine from a newer jeep. I could use your help in identifing the engine and if it will work for my Jeep.

    Thanks.

    Matt

Pics are worth a 1,000 words. Could be from an M-151 and if the case will not bolt to your transmission without some adapting. A Pic would be real helpful here. Nickmil

I will try and get pictures. The engine is 60 miles from where I live and when I was looking at the engine, I didn't have a camera with me. I was picking up a couple of sleds when I found this engine sitting there in the back of a deuce and a half. I am also trying to buy the axles from the 2 1/2 ton as well. It would be a week or two before I will be able to get pictures. SORRY!!

In the mean time I found a wrecked 96 s10 blazer for sale for $500. So I am looking at that for a possible engine for my jeep.

Thanks for the help and sorry I don't have pictures.

Is it possibly a Rolls Royce engine? Is it a light green color? The champs used them, and the tranny just had foward gears IIRC.

It is light green in color with the oil filter on the passenger side pointing up and the oil pressure sending unit coming out of the oil filter adapter pointing to the firewall. The fan is ran by 3 belts. Also the bellhousing and transy/transfercase is short, about 24 inches.

sounds like a M151 engine. Should have a data plate on the left hand side IIRC.

The M151 MUTTs at one point used a Hercules engine with a side-mount carb & an upwards oil filter, theres a MUTT on ebay right now with some engine pics, look familliar?

I am unable to go to ebay with my work computer, but I searched the internet and found another picture of the MUTT engine and it is identical to the one I found. http://webs.lanset.com/buzz/muttpics/mutt10.jpg With the amount of money I would put into swapping engines, this wouldn't be a good choice. Am I correct?

Thanks for all the help identifying the engine. I appreciate it.

    Thanks

If you can get it cheap enough, might be worth buying it and then reselling it on Ebay or G503. I'm sure somebody out there wants one of those.
