i am starting to think about brackets for my cj6 tub. i have aftermarket seats so i plan on building my own brackets.

on my 5 i had a full cage in it and tubes added to mount the seats from.

for the six i am going to put a cage in it but probably the kit from kentrol sold by 4wd hardware. this kit doesnt come with a bar for the seats.

because safety is my overall concern (this is a daily driver and kid hauler) i am wondering about taking some rectangler tube steel and building a frame that will bolt to the body mounts to support the seats. with the seat frame and cage being tied to the jeeps frame this should make things fairly safe right?

    anybody have any recommendations?

anybody have any better cage ideas?

    Huh...somehow I missed this one.

IMHO to get a decent rollcage for a CJ6 you need to go all-custom. You can use pieces and parts from stuff designed for CJ5s...but by the time you add to it what you need you might as well start from scratch and get something that looks designed for the Jeep rather than pieced in.

I wanted everything tied to the rollcage - seats and seatbelts. I didn't like the idea of seats attached to the Jeep body and seat belts attached to rollcage.

But I also didn't want the rollcage tied directly to the frame as IMO that will lead to frame cracks.

Since I had it done I've seen frame mounts that allow some movement, and in the future might add some of those in -- at least under the center hoop. If I had a glass body I'd definitely go all frame-attached.

thanks mike i did go to your site and got alot of good info and ideas!

the last jeep had a cage put in it by a guy that builds race cars. it was actually very resonable in price. and looked trick. i plan on going this way, but i guess i was trying to be a tight a$$ and was not wanting to over look any options.

    thanks for the input!!
