    Looking good!

If that color was available in a quart/oil based I'd be tempted to consider it for SSD...

Thanks. I'm really liking the color as well. Right now I'm going back and forth about going with clear over it. The satin looks great, but I'm a little worried about durability and I'm still a little unsure as to how I'll feel about the satin as time goes by. I have another hood that's been done w/ 3 coats of the satin, and half of it has clear on it. I've got plenty of time to figure out which I prefer.

That really does look good. I have gone through 12 cans of rustroleum camo sand on mine. You must have done some nice prep work to get it covered in less than 3.

You have a nice looking Jeep coming together. I'm planning on painting mine hunter green and using a roller from a thread posted last year.

    Thanks everyone.

Today was another productive day, even if there wasn't anything noteworthy to take pictures of. I got my last order from Walck's unpacked and sorted, got my Off Your Rocker corner and rocker mounting holes drilled on the panels, I got them clamped into place and got the body drilled, and then did a bunch more sanding. It looks like only one small area had seen 320, everything else had only been done with 220. So I did the whole thing with 320 and then cleaned up and ready to go for the final pass of 600 before paint.

I won't be able to work on it next weekend, as I'll be out of town. But I'm hoping to get it painted the following weekend, get the rest of the engine accessories sorted out and then start wiring. The first weekend in June is still the goal to get it on the road. We'll see!

Plus 3 coats of white on the wheels. Definitely loving the white wheels.

Clearly I'm going overboard for a rattle-can job. But hey, why not?

The satin looked really good, but the hope was the clear would make it look a little less like a rattle can job. So far it would appear that it has succeeded. It really cleans up the surface, and definitely gives it much more of a finshed appearance... It has definitely exceeded my expectations. And it is true what everyone says... It really does come down to taking time with surface prep.

The flash does seem to do strange things to the color, though... It still looks more like the first two pics of the green than the last two. It's not like a seafoam, but it's a lighter moss green than the last two pics would make you believe.

It's getting so close... I'm still a little nervous about wrapping up the loose ends (throttle linkage, replacing the tie rods, plumbing the fuel lines) and then there's the wiring. The wiring scares the hell out of me. Especially since I have the Walck's harness, but the PO swapped in an alternator and I need to add wiring for the electric wipers. But little victories like the bodywork and paint coming this far is enough to keep me going.

Looks great! I'd like to see some more shots of it.

It's not the flash affecting the paint color in your photos, it's the incandescent light bulbs overhead and the color of the wood paneling. Roll that puppy out into some soft early morning sunlight and shoot some! Use the flash outdoors too, it fills in the shadows. Makes a world of difference.

I'd have to see the piles of cans to believe it. That looks really nice.

Thanks everyone. It's really starting to come together.

I think a pic of the empty cans can be arranged! R) I think the total ended up at 13 cans for the 3+ coats of green, 9 cans of clear for 3 coats of that, and 3 cans of the white.

I'll be up again on Saturday, and even though it's supposed to be raining, I should be able to open the doors up and get some shots with at least some natural light.

Well, sadly the cans have all been thrown away...

Anyway, I decided against Herculiner on the interior and went with the brush-on Rustoleum Hammered paint. It seems like it will hold up well and be very easy to touch up if it gets beat up at all. And best of all it cleans up the floor very well. The floor was pretty uneven and had some pitting, and the hammered paint just fills everything in and hides a lot.

As for other things, I got the front bumper on, I got the corners and rockers mounted, got the hood on, got a bunch of touch-up work done on the frame and rear cross member.

Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate with getting it out side, but the natural light was enough to really show how different the color can look depending on lighting.

The goal for next weekend is to get the windshield frame, roll bar, gas tank and radiator in, plumb the cooling and fuel systems, install the electric wipers, get the plugs changed out and lay out the harness. Then the next couple of weekends will be getting the Walck's harness in and getting the dash sqared away, and it should be good to go.

I have to agree with Sparkey nice job,but you should have taken the tub off and the nose,so not to have all that overspray on your frame.Just my 2 cents.
