I got my head and pan back from the machine shop today. I didn't have any work done on then other than a clean finish. I got the pan painted tonight as well as the motor mount brackets. I still have to clean and paint the block but would like some suggestions. Right now the head and the pan are off. There is old paint and a lot of grease and "junk" on the block. Am I able to get the inside of the block wet with clean water, degreaser, or simple green? Or do I need to keep all this away from the internals. It sure would be a lot easier to spray everything down really well and then just run compressed air through it. What about a power washer? Anyway I will post some pictures tomorrow of the progress.

p.s. I have started looking at another jeep to buy. It is starting to take over my life.

Matt if you mean the pistons and crank are still in the block than my suggestion is use waterproof tape to seal up all internal areas and then clean the engine with water/degreaser. Air dry what you can and use brake cleaner to finish. Then paint!

Water can get into bearings and seals that you can not see or get to with air and could cause problems later. If it were a bare block I would say go for it and air it out but you have components inside.
