Dents in shocks from knuckle

    Depending on the diameter, aftermarket shocks will get hit by the knuckle. My Dad put the front shocks behind the front axle, with fabricated shock "hoops". Mine seems to be fine with the Heckethorns. I even (stoopid)cut the steering stops off of the axle tube....

    I'd like to say that I, for one, am shocked at the shocking amount of rebound this shocking shock question has spurred. :)roll: Yea, okay. Who wasn't waitin fer that right.) But really, it seems to be a very common problem among lifted JEEPs. My Ranchos are dented, seem to still be okay, and I think I'll leave em be.

    Yep, I'll bet it has to do with the lift, as a lift would allow the axle to move side to side more than stock. I'm going to check, but I'll also bet just testing it flat on the garage floor will show plenty of clearance. Then on a side hill, or angled downhill, with uneven weight on the front, all of a sudden the axle shifts somewhat, and bink, a dent.
