I'm rewiring the whole Jeep. Today I removed the old dash wiring, switches and gauges, and discovered that the PO had made a real sloppy hole for an extra gauge so I was hoping one of you might know of a supplier or fabricator where I could obtain an original dash panel for a 1973 CJ5. So far, I haven't been able to come up with anything searching the web. If that's not possible, I was wondering if some sort of sleeve or ring is available to fit between the gauge and the dash panel to make it look better. My hope is to find an original dash panel without a stereo cutout, but everything I can find seems to be for 1976 on up.

sure would be a great day if someone started to manufacture a replacement panel minus the holes or one w/stock holes and one with mounting holes and glove box attachment only.we can only wait and hope.any ideas from a fabricators stand point to do this in quanity, say two or three hundred units,to keep cost down.there is surely a demand .

I got a blank cover bent for mine from a local steel roof shop. Just have to give them dimensions.

If you have a little room around the hole, you could get a piece of stainless sheared square (18 or 16 gauge thick), a little larger than the ugly hole. Hole saw a proper size hole for the gauge in the piece of stainless. Drill 4 small mounting holes in a little from the corners. Use small panhead stainless screws to fasten.
Or do the same procedure using steel and paint it.

I would buy one. I would love to have a factory dash with only the stock holes in it. I was going to pull my dash this winter and repair all the wiring and possibly take it to a sheet metal shop for a sample to have a new one made, but then I realized that my full roll cage would have to be removed to get the dash out, I quickly gave up. It was too cold out there anyways;)

I bought an old panel 76+ from a junker. My plan was to measure and have a shop make me one. Problem is the old panel is so bent on the corners I don't trust the measurements. There isn't a square corner for datum 0.
As far as I know the 76+ will fit the intermediates.

Kaiser Willys Auto Supply and 4 Wheel Drive Hardware both have 76 and up listed. 4 wheel Drive Hardware has both blank and with cutouts. Does anyone know whats the difference between 75 and earlier and 76 and later. I have had mine out of my 75 and it does look prety simple to reproduce.

This place has dash panels, not sure of the specific years. Has blanks as well. www.jpoffroad.com Click on accessories.
