I am looking at a cj5 I'm not for sure what year it is, but it is in good shape very little rust. It has a L-134 does not run but complete , axle shaft bent. It has short fenders and battery box cover on cowl. What year do you think it is and how much is it worth.

thats not much info to go on. if the current owner cant tell you the year, take the vin # and look it up. value? hard to say. around my area, something like that might be $300-600. axles are easy to find. good luck

Pre '65 with a non stock engine. The F-head was stock but they are externally similar enough to make swapping easy.

For more info I'd refer you to the "Where's My VIN" thread and see the "Tech Library" Elsewhere on the wepbage for a spotters guide and more information on stock drivetrains, etc. There's also a sticky on "How much is my Jeep Worth?" under "Where's my VIN?".

    Cheers!

I posted a thread on yesterday about a cj5 if i should buy. It is pre 1965 no title needs clutch has not been running in over ten years also has bent axle shaft and a L-134 in it. I live in San Antonio TX just wondering how much I should pay not really sure this is going to be my first project.

It is hard to say, but a lot depends on condition of body, etc. Is it complete? Does it have a title? Should not have an L 134 (flathead), should be an F-134 (overhead intakes). Could be a lot wrong or it could be a diamond in the rough. Was it outside all ten years? Sometimes in Texas, folks have a very inflated idea of what a CJ should go for. IMHO, Based on what you have furnished, I would say maybe 300-500, if the body is good and it has a title. get something as complete as possible, it will make your task much, much easier.
