I'm changing from a 232/3 speed to a 258/T18. I know the 258 combo is longer than the 232 combo. Does any one know if I'll need to change the drive shafts? Thanks in advance:)

Yes it does. I did this exact thing. The front shaft has to be lengthened the rear shaft has to be shortened. The T-18/Dana 20 combo is 2.5 inches longer then the t-14/dana 20 combo. The engines are the same length. For more info. http://www.hudsonhawk.net/jeep/jeepmain.htm

Looks to me that in that picture with those bell housings they are about the same length. Is that an illusion or would the right bell housing make up the difference for him?

Its an illusion. The T-18 is longer. That is a t-150 bell housing on it with a ford short shaft conversion You can not easily get any shorter then that.
