Trying to get info ready to order an overdrive from Herm but ran into a snag: Transmixup case is marked T-18 1B ( Got this from Archer Bros w/6:32s ) but top plate is marked T-98 148 H. No problem but I need to verify the top plate bolt pattern to get the correct shifter mounting plate from Herm. Can someone post info on the top plate bolt patterns for an 18 Vs a 98 ? I understand one side is straight and one isnt or something like that. An overhead photo of each does not seem to exist anywhere :( Many thanks for any help on this.

You mean Herm? My T18 has T98 cast into the shift tower....... AFAIK, they are interchangeable..

I realize the trans is a T-18 but as he has two different shift kits ( one for an 18 and one for a 98 ) and the top case is marked T-98......

Dunno then. My T18 top cover has T98 cast into it, and Novak had no problems with a rebuild kit...

Dont think I'd have a problem with a rebuild kit either, my problem is which overdrive shift kit to order. I'll call Herm before ordering.

Oh, sorry. I didn't realize there were different shifters for an overdrive depending on what tranny you have...

It is real easy to make a shifter for your OD, I bought one from Herm when I put my OD in and ended up modifying what I got from him. If I could have seen one I think I would have made it myself.

I think the confusion is arising from the fact there are two T-18 cases/tops. One is the early model where the T-98 top will interchange and has reverse to the right and toward the dash. This is what you have. Just tell Herm it's the same as the T-98. The other is the late model that has a large bulge on the driver's side of the case and top. This has reverse to the right and back towards the back of the Jeep. This is not what you have. Nickmil
