Ok, so I have my 360 torn down and it has already been hot-tanked to remove excess gunk from times past. I was curious if it would be safe to rebuild the motor without having the cylinders honed/bored. I know this is probably a stupid question, but my machinist told me that the cylinder walls were in great shape. So in theory, could I just install a master rebuild kit that matched the stock bore diameter and get away with a reliable/running motor? I'll try to post some images tomorrow for your opinions.

the machinst would have/should have mic'd and measured the cylinder bores for out-of-round, excess taper, and wear on the walls. A visual check would reveal scoring or grooves in the cylinder walls as well.
If all the measurments are within specs, then just a simple quick honing should do to give the walls that nice crosshatch pattern.
No use boring a block if it doesn't need it in my opinion.
so in answer to your last question, yes, you should be good to go.

Thanks for the quick reply and advice. What is a good quality master rebuild kit that you guys recommend using. I have located several but just want a second opinion before making a mistake and ordering a kit that isn't going to be worth a flip (or my money)!

    I agree with Jim.

Talk to the machinist - they can likely get you your pick of parts for about the same price as an engine kit will cost. Ask about new cam bearings - that's something the shop will havve to do. Rings, bearings, valve job, new cam & lifters, timing set, new oil pump gears, gaskets, measure the oil pump clearance.
