Hi to all. i'm back to start work with my m.. I want to convert the stock springs with yj's. I think it's easy conversion to do. The issue is that i was discussing it with a friend and discouraged me by saying that i'm going to loose articulation and comfort ride with yj springs because they are stiffer due to the weight of yj. So is there anybody who has done it to his early cj to tell me what is really going on.

Well i saw the article before i post the thread and it concernes a 4" lift springs. I want to know if stock yj's are the same but i suppose that are even softer than a lift kit. Am i wright or is this just bull**** that i say?

Like I said, YJ springs are longer and wider = softer ride. Typically stock springs are softer than lift kits...

Military spring packs are deeper and stiffer than the cj models. The military wasn't too awful concerned about creature comfort. I'm surprised they finally got around to putting heaters in their vehicles.:hurrican:

I was going through some old issues of Jp mag. that I have and found an article where they took the YJ springs and adapted them to their, IMMS, a 3A frame with a shackle reversal and new perches in the rear for the shackles. One of the better pictoral articles from Jp. I don't have the actual date at hand sometime around 2001. I will look again tonight and see if I can find it.

You'll have to go to wider perches and shackle mounts.
The A1 was 1.75 inches wide both front and rear for their springs.
If at all possible, keep the shackle reversal setup, better control.

Most everything in the article I linked to would apply. Spring widths are the same on a '72-'75 CJ-5 as an M38A1. :)
