    Re: running poorly - F-head

sorry to jump in on the post, but I posted a few days ago that I am having simular issues and gave up, but will move forward with a Dist replacement.

Where would be a good location to purchase a new/replacement Dist for the 60's 12V F134 (Walck's, 4ws, Krage etc.)? Also will these new Dists(which don't seem to have much identification) accept a pertronix module if so which module #?

    thanks

I was thinking the same thing - about the distributor -
Omix lists one - part #17239.01
I found a used one here in town for $50 cdn, so I'll pick it up this weekend, freshen it up and drop it in - hopefully curing the problem.......................maybe.

ok.. keep me posted. Your symptoms are so simular to mine that it's scary. Anyway do you have a timing light that will allow you to move the wire clip over the various wires while it's running? SOme of my sparks are very good others are erratic.. Got my fingers crossed for you, if this replacement dist fixes your problem I will order one ASAP.

    thanks again.

I bought a brand-new repro distributor a while back for my L-head, it dropped in and fired up right out of the box with the points installed. The unit seemed to be of good quality, and it ran TONS better than the worn-out original did!

I already had a Pertronix setup in hand (#1541) but it was too large to physically fit inside. I actually ended up selling the repro distributor because I got a good deal on an NOS Autolite distributor, and I dropped the Pertronix unit into that.
