Just aquired a 74 CJ5 with all drum brakes. Just got a power booster from a later CJ and my question is - Do I need to use a diferent master cylinder? Advance, Autozone only show a 74 with manual brakes. I have to stick with one for drum brakes I sure so what have others used?

I would use the master that is listed for the same year as the booster. You may have to change the brake line fittings at the master. I ended up re-drilling my firewall to mount the later master.

I am afraid if I went to later unit, it will list a MC with disk brakes.

Oh, my mistake. I thought you were doing a disc conversion at the same time.

Advance and Autozone are wrong - power brakes were available as a factory option starting in 1972 and continuing thereafter. AFAIK the stock booster 72-75 is NLA anywhere, but the MC should be.

If you're adapting the booster from a 76-on Jeep, I think you're just going to have to figure it out. A lot changes in 1976, including the brake system and pedal mounting. Drum brakes were standard in 76-77; that's likely the MC I'd use with a later booster and drum brakes.

I used a MC from a disk brake Jeep on my '66 with all drums and it worked fine.
