Since I changed the oil in my Jeep ('70 CJ-5 w/ 225 V-6), the oil pressure has varied from 40 (idle and low rpm) up to 50 (higher rpm), and I noticed today that it is getting down to about 35 at idle. Before I changed the oil, I don't remember it ever changing from 40. I'm pretty sure it had conventional oil in it from the previous owner, and I used a synthetic blend. Does anyone think that this is something I should be concerned about?

Oil pressure sounds great for a :v6:, what's to worry about. :)

Gage movement is completely normal as the oil warms up.

I would have been more worried about the pressure never changing.

    Steady is not normal.
    Flucuating is.
Simple oil change and you fixed something:)
Wish it was all so easy.

Good rule of thumb for all motors.

10LBS of pressure for every 1000 rpms, is an old saying and is defiantly good, especially on a fresh motor, however on a street drivin vehicle with a worn motor you will not always see than and will still be fine. Don't get me wrong the motor isn't in perfect shape is you don't see that, but don't say oh I hit 5000rpm yesterday and only had 40 lbs of pressure lets rebuild the engine. as long as I see 10-15 at idle and around 20 at cruising speed I don't even start to think about it
