OK, I told Sum. Bros. I had a '64 axle housing (figured it was in the middle of the offset era..sorta) and what I wanted for axles, why I picked on the Bros. was I read it in JP mag. "your jeep" a few years back! I also didn't want to make the connection with the '71 stock flanged axles, but that does raise the question would the '71 axels fit the earlier housings and does anyone make replacements for less?? I am looking at some catalogs where replacement axes all set up (from MANY mans.) are less than $400.00!?! Hurts less than $700.00

no, the flanged axle shafts will only work in a housing that was originally equipped with flanged axle shafts. you cannot put flanged axle shafts into an axle housing that was originally equipped with tapered axle shafts.

I was afraid of that, but maybe I should try other axle mans. Moser, superior, currie etc. ???

If you have the 10 spline shafts, the 19 splines fit (and are stonger) with a spider gear change.

You might want to check out the current issue of JP Magazine for ideas. They have a whole bunch of stuff 'bout axles including modifying Honda Passport axles (D44). Gearing might be an issue to address with those axles though.
