Currently in the Early CJ5 classifieds section:

...two front Dana 30 Narrow-Trac axles. One is just the housing and the other is complete with drum brakes. I just need to get rid of them. I know that someone could use them. They're free to a good home.

I nearly passed out when I saw what you said the first guy was wantin for one. Like it has been said, the D30 is considered a throw away axle to the big dogs, so you best be would be to check with some of them. I got a D30 front with disc brakes, brand new Warn Premium lockouts, tie rod, drag link, and pitman arm and an AMC 20 rear for free just to get it out of the guy's yard. All that was just bone stock other than the lockouts, but they will work for me on one of my 5's and I knew they were in good shape because the Jeep was his DD before he decided to go big with it.

A great place to find one for sale is in the forums at cjoffroad.com just browse through the for sale section or place an add in the wanted section.

The problem so far has been finding one in this part of the country. I'm being patient. :smash: Thanks for the tip on cjoffroad.com. Seems like I stumble into a new forum every day.

Too bad you're not closer; seems they keep cropping up in my area for cheap. Here's one with a Lockrite already installed:

Thanks for the tip. I've pretty much found most of the pieces I need to put one together. Just need a carrier for the 4:88s I'm buying (is that what they call an open carrier?) and some kind of locker, then I'll start rebuilding what I've got.

I just bought a like-new Detroit for what you're probably going to have in a Lockrite and carrier. Keep and eye on the classified section. Post a wanted ad. Traction devices are something you can afford to ship.

If you want - I will keep an eye out for another Detroit. I knew of 2 others for sale at the same time I sold mine to Clint. They were a little more used than mine, all were about $300. They are both gone now as well.

That would be great. I've been gathering pieces to build the D30. Just a clarification, if you don't mind. If I use a Detroit, then I don't need a carrier? Which type of lockers don't need a carrier?
