yea i am tring to decide between steel or glass. want to steel for toughness and ease of mounting to the frame and stuff. but glass is lighter and rust proof...so its a difficult decision. but if i get in an accident with glass it'll probably crack a lot right? steel will bend but could be hammered back or get the panels replaced. plus you dont have to ground all of the wires seperatly with steel bodies.

Jeeps are light and squirrly in their own right. Putting a glass body on it make it more so. I would assume you plan on keeping it if you are going to put a new tub on it. You will be happy to keep up on the body maintenance since you did all of the work yourself to restore it. I put a steel body on my 2A 25 years ago. No rust issues just by making sure it's clean and touched up every so often.

There probably ain't 20lbs difference between a fiberglass body and a steel one, the fiberglass one may be even heavier. Corvettes are one of the heaviest production cars for there size thats ever been built.;)

Good decision. I always liked the steel bodies. Fiberglass is rust proof but they never look quite right.

That was kinda what I was thinking on the Jeep tubs. I know some front ends and such for drag cars and things like that are lighter than steel, but usually not as solid because it isn't needed. Glass Jeep parts though are pretty solid, so they weigh a pretty good bit. I wasn't sure though.

yea they usually reinforce the fiberglass with wood in alot of places so that weighs it down quite a bit
