Well, As usual I created another problem in my attempt to "fix" another one. My 75 CJ5 had a high quality "Made in China" ignition switch that has only one key. Rather than calling a locksmith to get another key cut I searched the local FLAPS and Mega Mart only to be disappointed by them not having the correct blank. I decided to buy another High Quality switch that came with four keys and it was the exact POS that that was there already. I correctly swapped the wires over but when the Jeep started if you touched the key in the on position the starter would engage with the engine running. I just couldn't believe the new switch could be defective so me and my neighbor began to doubt my wiring skills (or lack of) and started swapping wires.....you know where this is going. An hour later and finally breaking out the meter I figured it out. My new High Quality switch was in fact bad.

So what did I learn today...........Sometimes the easy/obvious fix is the hardest to complete and my neighbor is a pharmacist, not a mechanic.
