I am mounting new tires on my STOCK 64 CJ5. I can't decide between 30 x 9.5 or 31 x 10.5 BF Goodrich Mud Terrains. Can you guys give me some help on this? I am trying not to rub the springs. I hear I can adjust the stops for the 31's but how much does this change the turning radius?:hurrican:

It will shrink your turning radius some if you need to adjust the stops at all. I have 33/9.5 BFG ATs on stock 7in ren II al rims and they fit perfect to most people, I think they are a little wide and wish I would have gone with some 10.5s

I installed 31X10.5X15 on my jeep and they are fine. The 9.5 width has an advantage of not robbing turning radius because the wider tires (10.5)are limited on how far the tires can turn before rubbing the SPRINGS. I love the Coopers and would buy them again ( $25 PER TIRE CHEAP THAN THE BFG - SAME TREAD DESIGN).

I have 31s, the front do not rub at all, and the rears only rub on the tub when twisted up.

I was checking into those CO-OP Grip Spurs, and they're only available in 7.50x16. The guy said they're 33" tall. Would those be too tall for a stock '56 CJ5 with stock suspension?

What you really need is a set of NDTs :)

Well, I can't argue that! That's been my original plan all along. But, since I saw a photo of those CO-OP tires, I have this fascination for them. They just look so cool, and look like they'd really work good. Driving in the thick, heavy snow this morning, I was wishing I had a set on my Libby. They look like they'd be killers in mud and snow.
