    Hi guys,
I just purchased a 1968 CJ5 this week. It will need some brake work. Someone in the past put 11" brakes on it but how am I going to ID what the brakes are from? My guess is some year Ford. Do I just need a parts man that has been around a while or do take the parts in and start opening boxes? I will be needing some wheel cylinders, and maybe a master cylinder and hoses.

Do these have cable self adjusters? If so, they are likely 11x2" Bendix brakes, used on Jeeps, Broncos, lots of Fords (F-100 sp). If they have cams (no self adjusters) or rods for the self adjusters, they are likely utility wagon or Delco resp.

If they are Bendix, just match the cylinder diameters to a vehicle that came with them. The rest of the hardware is all the same.

Pics would be good to make sure.

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

appear to be 11" with self adjusters
very, very common as Tim mentioned above
drum will have max diameter stamped into it
    example: max diameter 11.090
for wheel cylinders, pop one apart to get the diameter stamped into the rubber cup; then just match up a cylinder; same size with outlet for brake line in same position; left and right are different for the brake line

Sure looks like the 72-75 jeep factory brakes that I put on mine.

Got a wheel cylinder and hose off tonight-to the parts store tomorrow. 1 1/8" wheel cylinders and a new radiator. This place is great!
