I'm looking to replace the PO installed copper tubing fuel lines on my '59 with steel lines. Some of you previously sent me pictures on how the original lines were routed which was very helpful. I forgot to ask the diameter though.

I was going to use steel brake lines which come in 1/4" 5/16" and 3/8" diameter. I'd swear the fittings on the carb and fuel pump match the 1/4" brake lines, but the diameter of the lines themselves seems pretty small. The 5/16" seems more appropriate and I can always adapt it down to the fuel pump and carb fittings. Any suggestions?

Also, any leads on where to find the flex piece that connects the line from the tank to the line on the fuel pump? Local parts stores just laugh at me when I ask.

Flex line? I just have a simple rubber line that I routed and zip tied to the inner part of the C channel. What size tubing did you end up using from the pump to the carb?
