That's awefully $$ with even fire 4 pin module HEIs on Ebay for $35-$45. For around $100 or so you could have an odd-fire HEI I'd guess.

That or buy a Proform for that price.

Do a search in the Intermediates forum... I think you'll find they like them in their 304s.

I almost bought one, but instead decided on a regular ole odd-fire HEI for myself. I was too cheap to spring for the Proform.

The one MOP linked too was who I was looking at doing business with.

    Proform all the way.
I installed one in my brother's 304 almost a year ago and it's been nothing but good to us since.
Great timing curve, adjustable advance, new everything.
    One-wire hook-up and a set-it-and-forget it installation.

    Two thumbs up.

No. I got one from oriley for $126.99 plus $10 core item number A1 30-1693. I also purchased a Accel coil asm for $49.99 item number acc 140003. Adj vaccum adv $26.99 MRG 6010. Unless the DUI and Proform people have a special never fail module and pickup I would go for otc stuff. You will also need a cap and rotor. The only way to get around the module weakness is to use a MSD 6 to trigger the spark instead of the module. It costs more but you get what you pay for. You can get a reman 6a from Texas performance for approx $125.

I have been waiting forever fo the new Mallory for the 304. They keep bumping the back order date out further and further.

Used MSD in my chevelle but no way I'm spending over 300 for the jeep. Was curious about Proform. Thanks for the tip

I was just looking at a catalog the other day. MSD offers and so does Mallory IIRC, a special electronic module. Dunno if it's any better?

MOP and I both use MSDs.

I am not sure that DUI's have a "special never fail module", but they do have there own line of Dyna-mod modules that are pretty spendy.

    http://www.performancedistributors.com/modules.htm

That is what came in mine, but as Sparky said, I run a MSD 6446 ignition box, so that spendy module is collecting dirt in my garage.

The DUI also comes with a "correct" advance curve if you buy one for a 225 V6, and a higher end cap and coil.

I am not saying they are really worth the $$$$, but I paid less than $100 for my DUI, so it was worth it to me.

To clarify, the modules I was looking at were not the same as the DUI module I borrowed from you MOP.

what do these modules do? I didnt use one on my cape conversions one i had in the 70(i think it was a cape, might have been a dui though not sure)

Unless you had an MSD like MOP and I do you did to use a module. ;)

They're the "points" of the HEI.
