Tail Light question

Will my tail lights work if the fronts are not hooked up?:?

 

I must have a problem then, my speedo lights work but my turn signals and tail lamps arn't working. I am trying to hook up some new fangled tail lights. I ran a wire from the light switch to the tail lights to see if they would light, grounded them and nothing.

The pic at the bottom shows the plugs, the White is ground the Black is tail, the Red is turn and stop.

 

The color you see, Red White and Blue is a coating inside I imagine, either on the inside of the lens or on the reflective material used inside. They have Red LED's so when you hit the brakes or turn signals they bleed Red. You can get the same lights with White lens or Red.

 

I guess I could try that huh?

 

Old lights did work but its possible the switch could go bad.

 

I dont know if this may help. I have a 65 CJ that I replaced the orig. tail lights with leds as well. Well... with the upgrade, I had to purchase a new turn signal switch because in order for the tail, stop and indicators, I needed to replace the faulty turnsignal indicator. After the indicator was replaced (with flasher as well) I wired it according to the diagram, to the brake switch, indicators and to the tails. Ill supply pics if you think itll help. My LEDs arent as nice, as Im trying to get my jeep roadworthy on a budget But anyhow, goodluck with your lights.

 

I am pretty sure my turn signal switch is working, I will try what Sparky said and go from there tomorrow. I am wondering if not having the parking lamps and head lights not hooked up that maybe the signal is not getting through the turn signal switch. But the wire coming from the light switch is hot and as long as the tail light is grounded it should light up. Hmmm I'll deal with it tomorrow...thanks guys. I will take some pics when I get them working so you can see how they look and work.

 

Bad Ground...again! I figured just to test the lights I would stick the terminal of the ground in between the spring leafs...nada then I tried between the shackle and the spring perch there has to be a good ground there...nada. So I took Sparky's advice and took the light out and hooked it up to the battery and voilà, they work. So I hooked it back up to the switch and ran a ground to my dash ground and voilà!

I will never again take a bad ground for granted, thanks for all the help guys.

 

I like em too, the thing I like is they bubble out so you can see them from the side. They are only Red, White and Blue in the daytime or when not lit. At night and when in use they are red. I thought about the clear lenses but everyone has those now. I'll get some pics tomorrow after class.
