I am FINALLY going to bring my Jeep home.R)
I am going to put a tow bar on it.
Am I OK to tow the way it is..........do I need to disconnect anything or just make sure it's in neutral?

    Thanks!

There are several threads re: towing look using the search. Iv'e towed other vehicles and always disconnected the rear driveshaft. Mainly for safe than sorry. Have you filled out your profile and added pics ?

Dana 18 and Dana 20: Hubs unlocked, transmission IN gear. Transfer case in neutral.

Owners manual will tell you neutral/ neutral.....
You'll be fine....I towed mine from NM to NC and back, and I pulled the rear drive shaft, mainly because I could....

OK, I guess I'm missing something. If you tow with the transmission IN GEAR, won't that make the engine turn too and create tremendous drag? Not to mention engine/clutch/transmission wear? I've seen others say that too, but I just don't get it.

With the t case in N, the gears will still "tick" over. Leaving the trans in gear keeps the main shaft from turning due to parasitic drag. For all 18 t case applications, put the t case in N, the trans in a gear and go.

OK so I am going to leave it in gear (what gear........does it matter?) and put the transfer case in N.
Here's a dumb question........I have 2 sticks in my Jeep, I know which one is which but how will I know if the T-case is in neutral? Is that right in the middle?
Sorry, I've really only taken a good look at this Jeep once and have never owned one before.
Is this tow bar OK or am I getting what I pay for?

I may borrow my buddy's dolly to tow it down then buy the tow-bar later to save some money.
I was looking at one at Pep Boys for about $135.00. But might try and get one off of ebay.

    Thanks!

If you tow it far, just drop the rear driveshaft. For short tows, trans in gar transfer case in neutral. Dont need a heavy towbar, These jeeps are light

Ditto above, and I would add one thing. Put the left stick forward in 2WD. That way if something you loaded into the Jeep slides forward when you stop and hits the right L/N/H stick and forces it forward, it won't go further forward into Low range, it will stay in Nuetral.
