New to forum so Hi there, Im looking at a late 60's 101 and was wandering about swaping engine out, Want to go to v8, Im planing on swaping enging tranny and t-case as well as axles, Was thinking of chevy stuff as I might have a 1-ton chevy in my hands for a donner. Is it possable to swap in a big block and has anyone swaped in fullwidth axles. I know its common on yjs and cjs but havent seen on commando. I know that there narrower than yjs and cjs but by how much. Also has anybody swapped in wagoner 44's in. I know this is alot of questions but am knew to the commando world, Even though this my 3rd jeep I dont bknow 2 much about em. Thanks in advance.

First off welcome. To answer all your questions at once, yes it can be done and has been done. There are others more quailified than me to tell you the how to do what you want to do and I'm sure they'll be glad to answer any questions you have. I was running a Buick 350 in a 71 I was using for a snowplow for a couple of years and it was a pretty easy install. That's only cuz I'm partial to Buicks and I had one sitting here. Chevy would be the most popular though because of wide availability of parts. You might also want to check out the Jeepster Commando Club of America or the American Jeepster Club websites. Lot's of guys there have done these swaps.
Where about's you from? Might be someone right close to you that already has one done you could  over and get some advice from.
