Please Help  . I've almost completed a disk brake conversion on my CJ5. I used parts from an axel off of a 77' CJ7. After taking me forever to find, order and have the brake hoses delivered. I now realize that I need to get ahold of two banjo bolts. I've stopped by our local Jeep parts HQ, 3 different auto parts stores, les schaub, americas tires. Also have checked 4WD Hardware, Quadratec, even JC Whitney. Are these little buggers hard to find? Or am I not loooking in the right place? I've searched the threads and haven't seen anyhting, any help would be seriously appreciated, I wanna take her out while the weather is still nice out. Thanks

Here is a pic of what I have got so far.... The bearing sizes were different between the axels... So I had a friend who owns a machine shop alter my original spindles to the correct thickness and size to accomodate the rotors and calipers. Replaced all 4 bearings and the races. New rotors, Ball studs were all in good shape. The only things I'm debating on is wether or not I should paint some calipers, and clean up some road grime while I'm down there. But that requires more work :)

Try a NAPA store we have some of the banjo bolts. We shoud have one that would fit. They are not listed in the computer by application theyneed to be matched up. If you can find out what thread pitch they are it will help and aprox length also.

I tried the NAPA here and they couldn't find a listing. The calipers didn't have the banjo bolts when I got them :( They had a book for banjo bolts but it had every make except Jeep. Do you think that if I took in a caliper and the brake line they might be able to do more with it?

That's what I ended up doing with mine. I used '70s Chevy calipers, which need standard thread, but all the parts store listed was metrics for the '80s models. I just took the caliper and hose over to their bin and sorted through the standard sizes until I found the right one. I'm willing to bet they've got something there that just isn't in the computer.

    :iagree:

If you take them in they should be able to set you up. They are not in the computer by application but there is a listing in the brake buyers guide (What we call a picture book) in the back with thread pitch and length so they can set you up.

I would also mask off the friction surfaces and paint the rotors with a high-temp paint. Mine are pretty nasty looking after about 2 years of use..
