Hello guys, I need some pics of the exact location of the left rear side spare tire carrier for my 1971 CJ5. I´d like to see pictures of the tire carrier installed whithout the spare tire on it. I got this tire carrier but I don´t know exactly where to drill to install it. I hope you can help me on that.

    See ya

That´s what I Needed!! thanks guys, but I was looking on the web and find this configuration (see pic) gas can holder and spare tire carrier on the back that is more useful to my needs.
Is it original?? Can I open the tailgate with this configuration? tell me what you think about my idea.

    See ya

That's a military type setup, and it's original. Not sure what model that Jeep is, probably M38A1, but I don't know about the handles on the corners.

Anyway, no, the tailgate doesn't work when the spare and gas can are mounted there. Usually bolted to the body at the top instead of having chains.

M38A1's didn't have tailgates, but the M38's did, and I think the WWII MB's and GPW's did too, but I ain't swearing nothin'!

That looks like a M38A1. The military Jeeps did not have tailgates. The handles are to tie it down during transport. The CJ tailgate will not support the weight of the tire carrier and jerry can.
