roll cage padding

im looking for suggestion as far as what material to use to pad and wrap a rollcage. i know it sounds sissy to pad and wrap, but with a 5 and 7 year olds riding with me at times, i would like to protect their noggins from bumps and bruises. is there a special pad or tape to use?

 

i have always just looked at the major offroad sites and bought it By the foot from who ever was cheapest at the time

 

a heating/air conditioning/plumbing supply house will sell foam pipe insulation in 6ft lengths; comes in various inside diameters
slit with razor blade, cut to length, glue cut, and wrap with electrical tape or tape of your choice

 

Find a speed shop local to you. They have all kinds of it for the race cars. Lots of colors to chose from too

I also use the A/C or heat pipe insulation. Cheap and readily available. I don't bother to glue my cuts. Just wrap it with tape. I pad my whole cage with it. Hate to hit that steel with tender body parts. If that makes me a wimp well so be it, I will be a wimp without bruises. Pic shows my start. I have the rest sitting in the garage but I am going to pop the cage out to finish it.

 

I bought mine a Lowes and used 2" wide electrical tape to wrap it.
