Doing the traielr tomorrow. I am debating on what to do with my ramps. Currently the ones i have are pretty long and i can cut them down, but i am also thinking about making a set of ramps that permanently stay on the rear of the trailer and stand upright in the transport position. I am not sure how to go about hooking them up. Does anyone have pics of their ramps that are permanant on teh rear of the trailer? I am also debating just keep teh current ramps and design a way to store them, since right now i jsut ratchet them down to the trailer bed, and i want to get them stored better than that. What have you guys done with your trailer ramp storage.

Don't know if it will work, but what about brackets underneath, and slide the ramps into them? I've seen it done with other trailers.

thats not out of the question, i will be flipping the thing over to get at the bottom. I am almost more inclined to make the rampsto be part of the fenders or front, pulling the ramps out of the bottom is a PIa sometimes, at least it was when i borrowed a buddys trailer one time R)

All the trailers I've used had ramps that slide in underneath for storage. I must admit its not the easiest setup to use, but I think its better than having them fold up. I know when towing my toyota that the bed was overhanging the rear deck and ramps would have gotten in the way.

X2. A good way to secure the ramps is with a small ball lock pin, which you can get at most boating or camping trailer supply stores. Drill a hole the size of the pin through the ramp and trailer slide. Then attach the pin to the trailer with a small cable or chain. The ones for boats are stainless steel so they won't rust.

Dan, one option for leaving them permanently fixed to the trailer would be to use a piece of round stock bracketed in three or four places to the trailer frame, full width. The ramps then have pipe fixed at the pivot point, and just enough larger than the round stock to slide on it. This allows for adjustable widths in case you haul something besides the JEEP once in a while. In the "up" position, they can be held with chain or a length of strap from a pin anchor on the side of the frame. Clear as mud, no? Most rental trailers I drag home with trenchers or small tractors are set up this way.
