My Bell crank is totally shot (as is the drag link).

I see that there are a number of bell cranks, ranging from 3/4" to 7/8" to 1.1/8" in diameter.

Is there a way to determine which size I have without pulling and measuring? I'm not sure I could accurately distinguish a diameter difference of 1/8".

    My Commando is a '67, Serial number 8705-H16-14221 with a 225-3-spd.

Jeepster only used two sizes of bellcrank shafts, either 7/8th or 1 1/8th. By the serial number yours should be 7/8th, part number 920556 but you might want to check it just to be on the safe side. Somebody may have swapped it out to the larger side at some time in it's life. Part number on that would be 991381. Can't find the link to that other one I was talking about in the previos post. Guess I should mention these part numbers are for the repair kits.

Thanks for the info and link. Suppose I'll pull it just to make sure.

I was just impatient to order something for my new project.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I pulled the bell crank, but it does not look like the one for sale on EBay or the one pictured on The-Jeep-Guy site.

    Posted pics on Steering thread...

The front portion measures 7/8", the rear measures 1.1/8". It appears that rear might actually be a bushing or sleeve. If this is the case, there's no way I could press something like this on myself if the replacement parts come separated. There also seems to be a press-in bushing still in the mount on the frame (see second photo). Any comments would be appreciated. If I can buy the whole assembled unit, I would. Looks like it's attached with rivets so I'd have to grind them off and bolt on the new one, but that would still be preferable to the effort of rebuilding.

Gotta say, it's good to be back to a vehicle without electronics that I can actually work on!!! Love the fact that it's a Kaiser!

Looking at the parts manual it doesn't show a bushing in the piece mounted on the frame. Once the assembly is installed and that cross bolt is tightened that bolt doesn't move. From the looks of that collar on the pivot I'm wondering what kind of shape the inside of the arm is in.
