When I busted a timing gear a couple of years ago in my Dauntless, I fixed it in a parking lot and used a lot of RVT sealant. It worked well till about a month ago when I decided to clean it up a little. I pulled the RVT out of the timing cover and it started leaking water. I decided that this was a good time to pull the engine, clean and paint the engine compartment and put everything back looking good. I pulled the front clip and all the access panels inside the tub. ( I will post pics as I can)

After cleaning up the engine I hate to mate it to such a dirty transmission. Would be really easy to drop the transmission and transfer case now without the engine. Looks like to put it back I could mount the units on the floor and then install them as one unit. Anyone done this? It's a '66 cj5 in slmost stock form.

I installed mine as a unit. It was pretty easy with the engine hoist.

It's good to have a friend help. I pulled mine in and out a couple of times since I wanted to change out the bellhousing.

Thanks. It looks easier to do it that way rather than fighting with it in the Jeep.
