Hi all, I didnt take it apart so I need to ask. Which direction does the curved side of the throw out bearing face. Its on a 1969 225 odd fire. I am installing it on a SM-420 with a Hyd slave. I have bought the longer clutch fork from Novak.
    Thanks

I'm not familiar with that particular bearing, but a throwout bearing should definitely have one side that turns, or spins, and that side would go against the fingers on the pressure plate. The bearing pushes against the pressure plate release fingers while the motor's turning, so the side of the bearing that turns goes against the pressure plate. The part that fits in the release fork doesn't turn. You DON'T want to get it backwards, doesn't work worth a damn that way. Makes hideous screeching, grinding noises too, and you have to take it allllll back apart again.

Longer fork = less throw. That's fine if your slave can handle it.
