Hey guys, new to the site (wasn't thinking that it would contain Commando info). I am currently in Iraq but have in my possession at home in Alaska, a 71 Commando. Good body, terrible engine. Hopefully will be using as a trail rig when I can get back and do some work to it. Right now everything is stock. Was running summer before I got here. Got a lot of looks from people in town. Anyway I digress. Plans for the future include the following:
    Rebuild Buick 225
    New springs
    33 x 12.50 MT Baja MTZ's
    Saginaw steering
Either rebuilding or buying brand new axles to include 11" disc brakes
    Lockers
SOA or Suspension lift to fit 33"s

Any comments or suggestions that some of you experts have would be greatly appreciated. I am by no means a mechanic, just a guy willing to learn while trying to get it right.

Sounds like a good plan ahead of you for the Jeepster to me.

Welcome to the board from MI.

Does sound like a good plan. Lots of knowledge here (on the board) so ask away.
