I had an old friend stop by today, he is setting up to flat tow a blazer. But he told me that having a brake assist in the towed vehicle is now mandatory. Has anyone heard of this? :?
    Searched and found this http://www.brakebuddy.com/index.shtml
not real sure I want to fiddle with something else just to get my jeep to the hunting area.

They tried to pass a law like that in Nevada, but as far as I know it was shot down. It seems a little ridiculous.

I felt that it was a tad ridiculous. But it's funny how my CJ-5 will push a 3/4 ton Diesel Ford when I stop. Of course it may not be noticable with the big camper on. Just wondering if any one had tried it and what they think.

The BrakeBuddy site says that Oregon only requires the vehicles to stop within the legally specified distance. In Washington a brake system is required.

IIRC at the cost of the supplemental system, you may as well buy a trailer with brakes.

Thanks Tim, My buddy is moving to Washington, so that is probably why he insists that it is the legal way. Being here in dear old Oregon, I'll wait.
Now I have to figure out what distance a fully loaded F250 Diesel with a 3300 lb camper and jeep will stop in.

I love living in Montana...as long as your plates aren't expired, the cops generally don't care what you have going on. I'd second just buying a trailer if you can. Saves a lot of wear and tear on the rig being towed. And you can tow anything you want :) .

And as fast as you want!:)

I only have to go 200 miles, so I don't think that would be too much wear on the little guy. I just don't need another trailer, and Mrs would throw a hissy fit if I even broached the subject. :(
