401 is in!

Got the motor in, lot's of power!:twisted: I think I need a high torque starter little tuff turning over.

 

Hey man im getting ready to put the 360 in my CJ how was the install? Got any tips to make my install go smooth??

I always wanted a 401 in my jeep, I have seen a few out in the sand dunes that would kick some serious butt! I ended up with a fuel injected gm 5.7 that would pass emisions and is awesome in the woods, no tippy carb problems. I want to see a pic of your engine, What mods did you do to the 401?

 

The motor is stock,I put a Edlbrock manifold and carb on. I cant seem to get the motor tuned in, I think my carb is needing a rebuild. The power is amazing though. I pulled it from a 77 Jeep Cherokee thinking it was a 360 thats what I paid for and got a 401 instead. Had to buy a different flywheel and I put a 11" clutch in.

 

I've got one in a cj5 I'm working on but havn't run it yet. What axles do you have? Tranny/TC?

 

T150 till I brake it,Dana20,44rear,30front.

 

Got my eye on a 44 rear. I've got a 30 front that needs gears, and another 30 front 20 rear combo that I almost don't even want to put in it. I'm scared it won't hold up. Same tranny/tc as you.

 

Change the 2 peice axles out for one peice, the 20 is pretty tough. What gear ratio do you have?

 

I'm not sure. I havn't gotten around to looking yet. Been working more on engine so far. The cj they're in is a 77 cj5 with 304.

 

Did you order the flywheel for your 401?

 

No I bought it in a jeep. The body was better on that one so I turned my attention to it. It's a 74 cj5. Transmission and transfer case are good in it so I'm just leaving it all in. I just need axles under it and a wiring harness and it'll go. Just tinkering from there.
