I am getting ready to remove my heads and take them to a shop to be serviced, have guided replaced, etc. I figured while I had the covers off, I would go ahead and repaint them. I have searched the site and settled on Buick Turquoise but had a question about the prep work. I have NEVER done anything like this before.

I know to use a degreaser. How do I remove the old paint and rust? Should I use a wire brush? I will use POR-15 after that. Thansk for your advice!!! Curious to see how long is stays apart once the first thing comes off :) Hopefully not too long, I am using my parents shop!

POR15 kits have great instructions on surface prep. I'd either sandblast 'em or use stripper and wire brush to get the old paint off. Double check the instructions though. Rust shouldn't be a problem with the POR.

Just follow their directions and it'll turn out great!

Be sure to follow their instructions. ;)

I had used a product called Aircraft Stripper and it works real well. With a plastic scraper and a brass wire brush, you will be in high heaven.
