Does anyone know the size of the 225 oil drain plug? Last week I'd picked up a 1/2 drain plug at NAPA (P/N 704-1020) that they pulled up using a '75 Buick Regal with a 231. It's definitely too small. I spent some time on the way to work this am with the good counter guy and we couldn't a different size listed in either the computer or his books.

    I'm using a 225 pan on my 231 oddfire.

I just took my old one to Advance Auto and matched the size to one in their HELP section.

I still have the original (with a fresh Alpine green paint job too). If you want it, PM me your address. There's nothing wrong with it, I just wanted the contrast of a brand new one against the repainted oil pan.

    Tim,

Could you just tell me the thread size? The plugs are cheap, I'm just trying to avoid 14 trips to NAPA. R)

Of course it would be cool to have a part from LuLu or the flattie on Betsy! I've got parts from a lot of different members on her.

    Thanks!

Well, I want to say it was a 1/2", but if you tried that and it didn't work, maybe it was a 7/16". I know it's pretty big...

I'll check it when I get home if no one has posted it yet.

It's gotta be close to 3/4" cuz I'm pretty sure I use a 15/16" wrench on it.

Mine is a 7/8 wrench so that usually means a 9/16 bolt .

I can't find any reference to anything other than a 1/2"x20 TPI plug on a Buick V6. Mebbe it's been drilled and re-tapped along the way...?
