motor start ?

    Hello folks
    1955 CJ 5
    Not all the time but some times when I go to start the motor up, she makes a hellish noise almost like a thonk.
    I have looked on line and have not seen anything that jumps out at me.

    Any ideas would be helpful

    To start with, I would check the starter bolts and make sure they are tight. Next I would check the motor mounts/trans mounts to make sure they are in good shape. Maybe someone else on here has some better ideas though.

    Not much to add other than checking everything in general that could hit, exhaust pipe, muffler, tail pipe. etc. :hurrican:
