My CJ has SOA, and recently one of the mounts broke off on the rear axle. I drove for about 10 feet after it broke, the rear end was bucking really badly. I had a local shop re-weld the mount, and since then I feel shuddering from the rear end when I shift. What could be causing this? Also, there is a clicking sound coming from the tranny when the clutch is depressed. I'm afraid that 10 feet ruined my tranny. Do I need to take my CJ back to the shop? Could the axle be at the wrong angle for the drive shaft?

    Thanks.

I would check the driveshaft, and ujoints first to see what kinda damage it caused. Might be as simple as a broken ujoint, could be worse though.:(

Check your axle u-bolts to make sure they got/stayed tight.

Couldn't find any loose bolts. Anyone have any idea of what might be causing the clicking sound? We adjusted my clutch recently, could that be it? The clutch was engaging at the top of the pedal's travel (not sure of proper term), we adjusted so that it would engage towards the middle. It clicks while the pedal is depressed and I am travelling at speeds above 25mph in neutral.

Checked the fluid level in the tranny, looked okay. Don't know if it has been changed in the last 30 years though...

    Thanks.

Maybe your driveline is a little bent now after your bucking ride, did you make it the full 8 seconds? Might jack it up and spin the drive line to see if it has some run out, up and down movement while turning, should be nice and true while spinning.
