Any tips on the best source for new fenders for a 1966 CJ5? I've heard alot about poor quality after market/China made fenders and want to try to avoid problems if possible.

Try www.jeepanelsplus.com too. Go to the website and get the phone number, then call them. The website's kinda broke. They make their own parts, in their own shop, in the good ol' USA. Don't know if they make fenders though. Worth a try.

Replaced mine with Omix-Ada fenders from Krage. The quality seems OK, and they painted up pretty well. I also used the later model fender with the side marker indents as they were about $120.00-$130.00 cheaper per fender. Bought markers and wired them into the junction on the left fender. They work well.

I too bought my fenders from Omx-Ada, though the retailer was Vintage Jeep Parts. These were the kind without the side marker indent/cutout.

The quality was respectable, though they did require some minor touch-up of blemishes around the lip and bends near where the side marker would have been. The steel was a little thinner than the original, but generally of good strength. Thinner steel on new replacement body parts seems to be a given, unless you go with one of the more expensive options, such as listed above. Just my 2 cents.
