Generally the wagoneers and commandos were pretty differnt. If the wagoneer has the 6 cyl then it will be a big hog, since it is the straight 6. If it was a buick 360, or 327? that would be a cool motor. The axles are a bit wider, and probably is a dana 30 front and 44 or timken rear if they still used them that late. I am not sure but they made a super wagoneer that was IFS front, and those are actually very very rare. not sure of the collectors value but i have never seen one, except they talekd about them in magazines.

The speedo clusters are the same. 350 Buicks didn't come along untill 68 so if it's a V8 it'll be an AMC 327. D20 transfer case. Can't remember off hand whether they had the automatics in 65 but it'd be a 400 turbo if they did. Windshield wiper motor, I think?? Been two years since I parted my 68 Gladiator but I believe they're the same. If it has interior light package you can use the door switches and the under dash lights. Any chance it has tilt steering?

Ya, that's another thing, the master cylinders. The power brake booster can be converted over with a little bit of work. I put one on my 73. Not really that hard to do. If it's original the AC underdash unit is more than likely the same that was used on the Jeepster. The engine mounting brackets will be different but the compressor would probably be a York. The power steering is completely different but should bring a pretty good dollar on Ebay for the complete set up. Hubs would be useable. Also, if you wanted to convert a D27 to 11" brakes you could scavenge the front backing plates. You could also swap the rear backing plates to add 11" brakes on the rear of a D30.
Just found it on Ebay! Radio is the same, steering wheel and horn ring, that is the same underdash AC that Jeepster used. The compressor lines come off the wrong side but it is a York. The speedo cluster has the glass face. Although not used on Jeepsters I think that would look kind of cool any way. I also noticed it only has the single line master cylinder but the booster should still be useable. Think I've picked it apart pretty good. Probably get a few bucks for that dash clock too.

haven't seen it but it should have a 2 hole knuckle on the front axel, they are rather hard to get as well.

I would advise you don't buy it for parts. If you want to drive it, that's great, but very few of the parts will have applications for buildups or other vehicles.

The 327 is an excellent engine for its day, but it's huge and anchor heavy and parts are scarce and expensive. Plus it's not exchangeable with anything except another gen-1 AMC V8.

The axles aren't worth saving - a long-tube 27 and tapered axle 44. The 11" brakes can be used on a CJ. It'll be either a column shift T-85, a TH400 or T-98 (unlikely) with a Dana 20. The T-85 is an orphan in Jeeps, and the TH400 isn't scarce by any means. A TH400 will use an adpater ring that only fits the 327. A T-98 would be cool, but it's unlikely in a Wagon and won't fit anything other than a J-truck or Wagon.

The two-hole knuckle is worth having, but the Wagon 27 axle is worthless so I can't believe you couldn't find one of these knuckles easily and cheaply elsewhere (try www.ifsja.org ).

Sorry to be so negative. Dale, turn off your caps lock.
