Daughter-in-law won't let the grandkids ride in Grandpa jeep unless in a seat with seat belts. Grandpa and their dad thinks strapping them to the hood is ok. Anyway, got a rear seat from a 76 or 77 CJ5 that fits into the 74 CJ5. Do you think the following hardware stack-up will be secure enough: Hex head bolt, flat washer, seat mounting foot, floor of tub, fender washer, flat washer, lock washer, hex nut? Don't plan to do real extreme 4wd but want to be as safe as possible.

There are factory holes in the floor for seat mounting.

That's about what came with my back seat when I bought it new. It doesn't take too much to hold in the seat because it's not that heavy. The seat belts do all of the work to hold in the kids.

The mounting holes in the seat frame do not match any existing hole in the tub. The seat belt attachments are part of the seat assembly. Just want to be sure the seat stays where is suppose to stay if something (God forbid) does go wrong.

If the seat is newer you'll have to drill a few more holes in the tub. I didn't realize the belts were attached to the seats in those models. Mine attach to the floor so that was what I was thinking. It still sounds like you will be safe. It is close to the setup I have and I'm sure in this day & age of lawsuits if it wasn't safe they wouldn't be selling it.

I'd use Grade 8 hardware for sure.
