just bought a 61 that was froze up. Used PB blaster and got it broke loose. Compression is 65 on number 1, and around 110 on 2,3,4. Was going to try motor flushing this weekend. Think I will try the ATF first. Motor runs and sounds good. Doesn't smoke until you bring the RPM's up. Should I even bother with the flush hoping that it is a stuck ring that will free up? Or should I plan to tear it down and do something ith number one? Really not wanting to do a full engine rebuild right now. Overall jeep is in fair to good shape. Would like to get back to running condition before going forward with full restoration.

Holy resurrected thread Batman!....I'm assuming you have the original fhead in the Jeep? If it was me and no need as a DD I'd take it slowly and see if it comes around

PB Blaster available also at Home Depot. Works good as mentioned. Marvel Mystery oil is good stuff, diesel and Kerosene, ATF, I've heard Seafoam is good stuff but never used it. Zep Super Penetrant available at Lowe's IIRC is great stuff too.

PB Blaster first and after its running again i put Seafoam in the gas and oil to lube the upper part of the block, it will free stuck rings and lube the valve guides. My buddy uses PB Blaster to free up the old farmall's all the time.
