I have aquired a 1973 CJ5 that is stock for all I can tell. I am going to replace the suspension with a 3" BDS lift and since I plan to run 32 or
33" tires, I was wondering if it would hurt to add like a 2" inch body lift?
Can I do this without major modifications?

With that combination of lift and tires you wouldn't need a body lift.

You'll likely have issues with the shifter and pedal linkages, and would probably need to re-mount the radiator on the fan to keep optimum cooling and prevent the fan from interfering with the lower radiator hose.

IMHO 2" is just too much body lift. You'll be able to "see through" between the frame and body in the wheelwells, etc.

I'd suggest checking/replacing all the body mounts - they probably need to be replaced anyway, and this would net a 1/4" to 1/2" lift body lift.

But like Glenn said - with that lift and tire combo you'll be fine without a body lift.

Thanks for the advice! I'm going stick with the suspesion lift and check out the body mounts and replace them with OEM body mounts at some point.

IMHO I think body lifts are kind of gawky looking. My friend had one. No good.

Looks like everybody has pretty much covered it. Hockey pucks are 1" thick and good hard rubber. I have used them for everything from making custom motor and tranny mounts, to body lifts and they seem to hold up pretty good, especially considering the price.

My .02 worth though, I wouldn't put a body lift on unless I absolutely had to for some reason and even then, I would try to trim the fenders or anything the tires might not clear before I started. There is a little fab work that has to go into doing a body lift if you want it to look and operate correctly.
