My oil pan began leaking very badly today from where the skid plate meets the bottom of the oil pan. This began today after a long drive. It always leaked a little, now it is leaking very severely to the point that it is undriveable. Can this be welded? What should I do??

I used JB lockweld for a similar situation one time.

i assume this is a 232 or 258 inline six. i would remove the oil pan and weld the pan where the problem is .this could be stress or damage from something striking skid plate.i speak from experiance.R &R oil pan is easy on that motor.good luck and happy JEEPING.

JMO - get another pan. 232s and 258s are plentiful, and so should their parts be.

Well I was trying to avoid taking the pan off of the engine. But I think in order to weld or braze it I will have to remove it anyhow. So I will prolly by a used one. Can pans from a 4.0 be used? Or is it a 72-86 application.

I don't know. Maybe - the block is the same, but there may be differences in sump depth or sump location.

Try posting on NEOW - I've had good luck finding parts there.
