spare tire carrier

    I have a 1975 cj5, the previous owner put the spare on the tailgate, There are 3 holes on the right side of the jeep just aft of the rear tire, is this the location for the original spare? what does the tire holder look like? and are there only 3 bolts holding it on? If someone has a pic or theirs I would appreciate it. thanks for your help
