if your talking five point, i have always read that you should always have high backs and thats what i have always done. but, i have seen them used on low backs before. i usually default the experts when it comes to safety.

How do you plan to attach the harness? The shoulder harness needs to be attached at a minimum slightly below your shoulder height or higher, or needs to run over a crossbrace at the same location. You can use a lowback seat, but DO NOT rely on the seat back as the shoulder belt support, your harness will be ineffective if you do that! If you have a bad crash, the seat back will bend and the belt will be loose.

I had them in my CJ5 with lowbacks, attached to the floor behind the seat. I knew the "proper" way to attach them, but figured those guidelines were based on high-speed rolls, whereas anything I did would be low-speed.

In the end they were so much of a pain to get in and out of that we never used them anyway.

I have four points for driver and passenger (highback). I cannot remember the last time we wore the complete set up. Even on trails, my jeep cannot handle obsticles that would require the shoulder restraints. The lap is all we wear 99% of the time. -They are atached to a drop bar on my cage
