HI all. Jeeps seem to attract more Jeeps. I don't even have mine home yet, and my neighbor with an 83 CJ7 wants me to do a bunch of work on his.
He bought it as a project, with the engine (inline 6) just bolted in place. so he wants me to bolt all the necessaries on it, figure out the spagetti wiring, and try to get it running.
So, I need a good shop manual. HOpefully one that will cover both this 83 CJ7 and my 80 CJ5. I figured, if anybody, you guys would have some good first hand experience on which ones are the best.

p.s. anyone got a good title and vin plate for an 80 CJ5? (shhhhh) hehehe.
It's a long story, but it looks like it could be difficult to get the title for my rig. My grampa was the last to register it. He passed on last winter, and noone knows where the title is.

If you want a manual that covers a range of years, you can always go with Chilton's. Of course, nothing beats the FSM.

If the Jeep was your grand dad's, can't you take the death certificate with you to get the title transferred? Maybe not, but it might be worth looking in to.

You will not be able to combine 80/83 in a FSM they only come as individuals. http://www.thejeep.com/manual.html There is a cd that you can find on ebay that combine the two years it’s most likely a copy of the Chilton/Haynes manual.

I would check with the registry they could possibly help you out with the title seeing how it was your gramps and he registered it.

timgr. Thanks. THis may not be as bad as I thought. My dad would be next of kin, so he could easily apply for the title.. hooray!.. I could probably have a valid title by the time the welding is done.

As for the manual, It looks like I'll be picking up a Chiltons or Haynes for now. Then Ill see about finding a FSM for the 80.
I know I can get the other two at Auto Zone or Barns and Nobel.
    Thanks all.
